Part time wife?

Hello again friends! How are you? I hope you all are having a wonderful day in the Lord! Today is gloomy but there was sunshine here and there sprinkled in between the clouds. My Hubby came home early today so we have been hanging out and spending time together before he leaves for TDY..sighs... He will only be gone for a little time but I will miss his company and presence dearly. I will be staying back this time and preparing the house and my mind for a few changes when he comes back. He will be on a different work shift and I will be starting a part time job at the school as a reading support paraprofessional. I will be there for half the school day for only four days out of the week helping support struggling readers. But wait Mrs. Holiday...I thought you were a full time stay at home wife? ~Smiles~ I love staying at home and being a homemaker, but I don't have any children yet and Hubby and I have discussed on great lengths whether I should go back to work. Before I got married I was a Kindergarten teacher and I have a degree in Elementary Education. When we moved to our new duty station I was amped to get right back into teaching. It wasn't until I read some homemaker/housewife blogs and studied some things in God's word that I started to question if I wanted to go back into teaching full time again. And then I also noticed how much I loved taking care of my house, cooking delicious, healthy meals for us, trying out different baked goods to make from scratch, and the most important thing: my health. It was the first time in my life since working and going to school that I was not utterly fatigued, I was at a healthy and decent weight, my menstrual cramps were gone(no joke) and PMS symptoms were lessened, and I was not STRESSED. I hadn't realized how much stress can affect the body and teaching was definitely stressful. I loved my students and I love working with children, but teaching now a days is just.too.much. I had a wonderful first year of teacher and had lots of support from mentors and veteran teachers, but the work load was a lot and from all the fatigue I was not taking care of myself at all. So I decided I didn't want to do something full time, but I also wanted to work in education for a little while longer before having children. I prayed that God will direct my path because I wanted to be a homemaker still because he wants me to be a keeper of my house and be, but I also wanted to do a little something during the week that will be a blessing to others with the talents he has blessed me with. My God sure knows how to answers prayers! Now I can still be a homemaker and do the things I love and work with children (also the little extra cash we will get from my job will help pay off some things and boost our savings)! Now Hubby has given the okay to me working and told me that he's glad I still get to do what I love without all the stress. And he won't get to miss any of my good cooking ~smile~ Have you ever been conflicted on somethings and God answered you prayers right on time? I would love to hear about it!

God bless,
Mrs. Holiday

Taking Care of You!

Today has been an average Wednesday. I wish I was more productive today, but thanks be to God that he gives us a brand new day to start over and get things right which in my case is mopping my floor, cleaning the bathroom, folding clothes, vacuuming the floors and couch...whew! Let's just say I have a lot to do and decided to give my self a big B-R-E-A-K. I needed it. I needed to sit on the couch, browse the Internet, watch tv, and sleep. Now for most housewives that would entirely impossible to do, especially if you have children. However, I feel like we are always doing things constantly for others that we forget to take time for ourselves, whether its 15 minutes or the entire day. We can not do our jobs well when we are worn out and worn down. Even the working class take a vacation or a mental health day. You have to take care of yourself. Period. Find the time. Now for stay at home wives or working only part time this could be simple. For stay at home mothers, this could prove to be challenging. Don't get discouraged yet! There are lots of things you can do to take care of yourself even when you feel like you can not squeeze it in. Remember to be of service to others, and to God, you need to take care of your temple.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

If you have children ask your husband to watch them for a few minutes, or take some time in the morning before everyone wakes or after everyone goes to sleep during nap or at night. Here are some things that I enjoy that really does help rest and invigorate me during the day or sometime during the week.

-Take a bath. Light some candles and dim the lights. Play some soft music.
- Drink tea while gazing at the sunrise or sunset. I love drinking a hot cup of tea anytime of the day actually. You can do this too while reading a book or listening to soft music or acapella gospel hymns.
-Nap. Even if it is only for 15 minutes. Closing your eyes just for a few moments can give you an energy boost. Look it up. It is scientifically proven and one of my favorite things to do. Smile.
-Mani and Pedi. Do it at home if you can't go to the nail salon. I don't like wasting money on it so I like during it at home while watching one of my Korean dramas.
-Do yoga or go for a walk. Exercise is good for you mind and body. Currently trying to make this my favorite. Smile.

These are just a few things that I enjoy and you don't have to pay a dime for it! All you need is a little time to commit to YOU. I also think of my bible reading/study as TLC for me because God's word always puts me at peace, eases my anxieties, and reminds me that even on those days when I don't have any time to do any of the things listed above, God is taking care of me. So, in conclusion, try do something for you. You won't regret it. I promise. Smile.

God bless you,
Mrs. Holiday

Welcome to my blog!

Hello!! Nice to meet you! I am Mrs. Holiday and welcome to my blog where I will discuss just about any and everything. I am a young housewife and newlywed to a wonderful man in the Air Force. We currently live far from family and it is just the two of us for now (we definitely want children in the future). On this blog I will share cleaning and cooking tips as well as different things that I enjoy and my faith. As a housewife I have learned to take it slow and enjoy the small things in life and thank God for all the blessings he has given me. I hope you will come along with me as I try to make everyday feel like a holiday!
